ANN ARBOR, MI — Reflecting the country’s surprisingly curious and carnivorous appetite, a new report published by the University of Michigan found that 92% of Americans wish they could have tasted dinosaur meat. “I think this study shows that even though dinosaurs walked the Earth 65 million years ago, we’re really not so different from each other,” said paleontology professor Jacob Fisher, adding that, on average, Americans would be willing to pay up to $78 per pound for the luxury of trying dinosaur meat today. “When asked to pick which dinosaurs people would want to eat the most, respondents unknowingly chose the same species that T. Rexes loved best — Triceratops, Edmontosaurs, and other T. Rexes. Turns out you don’t need a big brain to have good taste! Other popular answers included Raptors, because people assume they’d taste like chicken, Stegosauruses, to see how their spines tasted, and Plesiosaurs, as a refreshing ‘seafood’ option. I think part of these results comes from our genetics as we’re hardwired to be curious about different foods, but some of it definitely comes from all of the paintings and movies we’ve seen. You can’t deny that watching a T. Rex tear a massive chunk of flesh off another dinosaur and eat it doesn’t make you hungry.” Fisher added that 95% of respondents say they would have eaten the flesh raw with the remainder opting for a nice medium-rare.
