I want Kamala Harris as my president because she’s a woman of color.

Yes, I know that statement will likely elicit comments that I’m being sexist and racist.

But I am unapologetically thrilled by what a Harris presidency would signify: better representation. Not of me, a white man, but of an ever-diversifying demographic that has been underrepresented for a long time.

Of course I want my president to be qualified, and she clearly is that. A highly successful prosecutor, she’s no stranger to the rule of law, corruption, climate change, and inequality. She’s also had nearly four years as vice president.

Done.

But as the Democratic nominee for president, now she has to choose a running mate.

I’ve been predicting a Trump victory even before “God saved him” from a would-be assassin, a moment the cunning reality TV-star stage-managed like a pro, turning it into the photo-op of the decade.

I’ve been predicting it because I could see Biden’s decline, yes, but also I understood the fever dream of MAGA. Endless rallies, slogans, merchandise — their own social network online. God on their side. Jesus reincarnated. It honestly looks like a lot of fun over there…
