Let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to travel? Visiting new places, seeing fascinating landscapes, gathering new experiences — that is a perfect way to spend your free time. What about sport? A tough question since many people do not like doing sports. But what if we say that you can make your exercising just as fascinating and exciting? You just need to turn it into a journey.

Sports holidays are gaining popularity each year. Whether they are holidays for singles, holidays for couples, or sporting camps for children, they offer you a fantastic experience, while promoting a healthy lifestyle. You can easily go kayaking in Cornwall or play golf in the nearest golf club but why not go further? Summer is coming and it is time for adventures. Here is our list of Top 5 Sports Holiday Destinations you may wish to visit.

1. Hiking — Norway, Senja Island

Norway is considered to be one of the most picturesque countries in the world. Its breathtaking views, rivers, valleys and majestic fjords make it a perfect place for hiking. Senja is an island to the north of the Lofotens. Sometimes it is called Norway in the miniature as you can find all kinds of Nordic landscapes here. The island has 14 hiking trails of different complexity and you can hire your hiking equipment here too. So put on your hiking backpack and explore the walking trails with the company of like-minded enthusiasts.

2. Cycling — Montenegro, Lake Skadar

When it comes to cycling, then Montenegro landscape is a perfect choice. The country has many cycling routes: you can ride through the ancient ruins of Stari Bar, the historic capital city Cetinie, or a Lovcen National Park. But we recommend taking a mountain bike and going on a trip around Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans. Enjoy riding through chestnut groves, visit pretty villages and try local rakija with honey. Meet dawn on the shore of this beautiful lake with the Albanian Alps beyond.

3. Kitesurfing — Sicily, Lo Stagnone Lagoon

Summer is coming so it is about time to put on your swimming suit and try some exciting water sports in a warm climate. Kitesurfing can grant you an experience you will never forget: sun, breeze and refreshing water — a perfect combination, isn’t it? And where is the best place to try kitesurfing if not in Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea?

Lo Stagnone Lagoon is considered to be one of the best places for kitesurfing in Europe, hence it became a kitesurfing Mecca for sportsmen all over the world. Its flat, shallow landscape offers excellent weather conditions for beginners, and the temperature from March until November varies between 18–35℃. It’s high time to get your kitesurfing gear from the garage and ride your first wave!

4. Kayaking — Portugal, Benagil caves

Want to try something new? How about going kayaking across the beautiful shores of Portugal? This may sound a little risky, but you can see the landscapes you’d never approach on foot. So it is worth taking a few kayaking lessons. Take a ride to the sea caves near the village of Benagil. They are amazingly beautiful rock formations surrounded by the most stunning beaches. You can rent all the kayaking equipment and a coach on the spot. Go on an amazing journey, while observing breathtaking landscapes, and make a few fascinating photos as a bonus.
