Somerville Stands Together Rally on Monday / Aldermen to Consider Union Square Land Transfer to US2 Developer

On Monday, October 22, a rally sponsored by Somerville Stands Together will kick off at 4pm in Union Square. Somerville Stands Together, a coalition of local labor unions and community groups, is fighting for affordable housing, good jobs and responsible development. The rally is to call attention to the Board of Aldermen’s public hearing at 7pm concerning the transfer of the large, D2 parcel of land in Union Square to US2, the city’s developer of choice.

The public hearing is before the board’s Committee of Finance, and will be in the Aldermanic Chambers, 2nd floor, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA O2143. All are invited to attend and speak to the committee concerning the terms of the development of a large segment of Union Square.

Written comments are also invited by the committee. (Please send by US mail to City Clerk, City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143, or by email cityclerk@somervillema.gov. Written comments must arrive no later than 12 Noon on the day of the hearing, in order to be sure they are conveyed to the Board.)
