Joy — the journey not the Destination!!!
Vacation!! sounds like “SALVATION” for a tired soul whose’s been working like a clock daily (5 days a week — some courageous ones even 6). I was on vacation this year in May for a week or so — though not a vacation exactly because I had a “specific reason” to go. Soon after I reached Kerala, I realized that this “specific reason” was for another day in time. So I decided not to waste a single moment and planned a trip to a few nearby places.
First time in my life — I had both MONEY & TIME — “Together”.
We had a brand new Maruti 800 at our disposal — We went to 3 places Allepey, Piravom, Kumily. Kumily was by far the best place i’d ever been to, not only was the destination so beautiful but the whole journey in itself. We started at 5 in the morning from my house and reached Kumily at around 1 in the afternoon. Its just 120 km from our house — what took us so long to reach Kumily ?
The Journey !!! (:
For the first time in my life I stopped so many times during a single journey. Just to enjoy the natural beauty, to touch the clouds, to breath fresh air, to hear the birds sing, etc. I am not a kinda person who reacts exuberantly to any situation. But for the first time I reacted like Ah My GOD!!!! This is so beautiful. I went to the extent to call one of my friend in Hyderabad to let him know how beautiful it is. As the old adage goes.
“When we see the most beautiful we cannot be silent till we tell it to someone close”.
I always believed that — Life is more about the JOURNEY and not the destination. But the complicated world we live in tells us that life is all about the DESTINATION. More than often we travel through life neither enjoying the JOURNEY nor the DESTINATION. Joy is a key factor for the JOURNEY. The world tells us that you should be “JOYOUS” once you have reached the “DESTINATION” (for the most — “SUCCESS”). I think without “JOY” the “JOURNEY” would be so HARSH on us — that we’d not even ENJOY the so called illusive “SUCCESS” after reaching the desired DESTINATION.
Jesus told us that HE is the WAY……..
As we walk this narrow way — HE fills us with great JOY. As you take this narrow way, you go through many places, some hard terrain, bad weather, bad seasons, etc. But he fills us with true spiritual JOY which come from him alone. As the saying goes ….
“Happiness depends on happenings, but joy comes from the LORD”
I don’t know anything about your JOURNEY, leave alone the DESTINATION — but would you please consider to think about your JOURNEY……. always remember
There’s a better way, His name is JESUS!!!
Always (: Josse
