Veil or Unveil

Recently one of my friend asked me an interesting question. She asked me

Chetta: Why should girls wear a Veil in Church ?

I dint have an answer for this question — Because I was of the opinion that anything works (who cares if they Veil it or not). But one fine day this happen, so I’d like to throw some light on this from one of my experience.

Me :

Day 1 : Typically I prefer sitting on the last bench for mass, you get to have a nice view from this position. One day as I was sitting on the last bench (eyes closed) a beautiful girl passed by and sat on the first bench not too many people in between (It was a weekday). So I had a clear view of this girl. By the time I stood up for the LORDS prayer, I noticed that this girl did not wear a veil or the Indian way of covering her hair with her Chunni. I was like, this is wrong! she is distracting me and all that self-righteous blah blah.

Day 2 : Same cinema repeat — weekday (few people in between us). Some time during the LORDS prayer, surprisingly she covered her hair with a veil. But today it was not the veil that distracted me but her whole BACK! This forced me to think: Its not the veil or even her hair or even her back (the problem here is “me”). I need to set my priorities right during mass rather then sitting and judging the color of someone veil or any blah blah blah.

To all the Dear Sisters reading (:

Real beauty is revealed in great modesty.

When you cover your hair with a veil you honor GOD. No greater privilege than this to honor GOD.

Quoting Christina Evert

“I think wearing the veil is a beautiful outward symbol of the recognition of femininity and its distinction from masculinity. Wearing it helps me grow in virtue in modesty, in humility, and authentic femininity.”
