Can Cannabis Improve Your Sex Life and Help Close The Orgasm Gap?

A study indicates consuming cannabis can increase sexual desire.

Happy 420 to all who celebrate, or don’t! I’ve never been one to partake, it just isn’t my holiday (no judgement here!), so it comes as a bit of a surprise even to me that I’m penning an article touting the benefits of cannabis use in the bedroom. But hey, never let it be said I am not willing to try new things. I’m always happy to hear about anything that’s going to increase desire. Can cannabis improve your sex life and help close the orgasm gap simply by consuming it prior to sex? A study released in 2023 by Amanda Moser, sexologist, of East Carolina University says, yes.

More than 70 percent of people said using cannabis before sex increased desire and improved orgasms. Another 62.5 percent said cannabis enhanced their pleasure while masturbating. Moser and co-authors say the study’s findings are especially relevant for women’s pleasure. The results “suggest that cannabis can potentially close the orgasm inequality gap,” they write, referring to past findings that women who have sex with men are typically less likely to orgasm than their partners.
