Years ago, when I first started buying sex toys, one of the first mistakes I made was putting everything I owned into one box. Why is this an issue? Today, it probably wouldn’t be too much of a problem, as long as you’re buying high quality silicone products. But we’re talking about the early 2000s. Most of my toys were jelly with only one or two silicone products thrown in for good measure.

So what happened?

The jelly items touched the silicone items, the silicone items touched one another, and melty things occurred. It wasn’t pretty. While the jelly stuff didn’t cost a lot, the silicone stuff did and I was devastated. But I learned a valuable lesson. Keep my sex toys away from one another, especially silicone on silicone.

Over the years, the quality of silicone sex toys has drastically improved. Even though we’re still told we should keep them away from one another, just in case, high quality toys don’t often cause damage to each other. But one situation where you definitely don’t want to mix silicones is lube and toys.
