Sonder Design Collective is a network of independent design specialists working for a more sustainable and equal future. The co-operative is registered in Finland, but members live across the globe. We are a self organized network, which receives funds from non-profit organisations to lead design projects with social and/or environmental impact.

We are looking for you: an energetic and self driven person to set up, run and develop the Collective’s financial and operational management

Your main responsibilities will be
Design, implement and maintain Sonder’s financial processes to fit our networked and impact driven approach
Design, implement and maintain Sonder’s operational practices and systems to make sure members have all they need to do their work well with an environment of collaboration and transparency

In specific we would like you to be able to

- Prepare and review contracts with our subcontractors and subgrantees
- Review legal compliance documents and advise Sonder how to meet the requirements set by donors
- Ensure funds are spent according to our rules and donor requirements
- Manage Sonder’s accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Create monthly financial reports and monitor Sonder’s cashflow
- Work with the accounting firm and auditor in relation to reports, balance sheets and auditing
- Support members of the collective with travel arrangements and logistics
- Set up tools and systems to make the network run smoothly
- Put forward new ideas you feel passionate about and make them happen!

What we think you need to succeed in this job

- Excellent English skills
- Knowledge of the Finnish tax system and Finnish language skills a plus
- Experience with international finance management and money transfers
- 3–4 Years of experience managing finances in an organisation
- Self starter and self manager
- Reliability and accuracy
- Independent working style
- A good intuitive sense to understand and respond to people’s needs
- Familiar with remote working
- Interest in Sonder’s vision and mission
- Interest in new financial models
- A good sense of humour
- Ability to cope with uncertainty

We anticipate that this will not be a full-time commitment, rather 50–70% of time and start in October.

We are all self-employed entrepreneurs and would prefer if you would be too, but we can also engage you on a part-time employee contract if that is preferred.
