In every city where Sonder operates, we are all in. Our local staff lives and breathes the community’s culture, sending visitors to their favorite shops and restaurants. We also partner with cities and developers to renovate historic buildings and blighted properties, and spend millions of dollars annually on employee salaries, vendors, and suppliers in each of our markets.

We consider it an honor to be a part of the fabric of every city, so when we can, we give back. In Boston, we’re thrilled to donate over $500,000 worth of furnishings to nonprofits including St. Francis House, Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and Furnishing Hope Massachusetts. From furniture and home decor, to household appliances and electronics, these supplies will help bring comfort to families transitioning out of homelessness and help fill their much-needed new homes.

“We’re grateful to partner with these organizations who are doing so much good in the Boston community,” said Ariel Avila, Sonder’s East Coast Regional General Manager. “As a hospitality company we believe in not only serving our guests, but extending a helping hand to those in need, and we look forward to continuing to support this incredible city.”

A portion of our donation will help transform the living areas of St. Francis House by creating cozy, relaxing spaces for those seeking refuge during difficult periods in their lives.

“We’re thankful for Sonder’s generous donation, which will not only help transform St. Francis House’s living areas but provide access to critical supplies to those who are struggling,” said Maggie Burns, VP of Philanthropy and External Affairs, St. Francis House.

“Furnishing Hope’s mission is to help families transitioning out of homelessness create a home and a fresh start for themselves,” said Suzy Palitz, Executive Director of Furnishing Hope of Massachusetts, Inc. “Sonder’s donation will go a long way in helping the individuals we serve rebuild their lives and we are incredibly grateful for their support of the Boston community.”

“Sonder’s donation will help provide comfort and dignity to hundreds of families who are making the transition from homelessness into housing. We are so grateful for this generous support,” said Robyn Frost, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.

Since Sonder’s founding in 2012, we’ve expanded to nearly 30 cities around the world. As we do so, we frequently partner with local governments and community groups, including a $100,000 donation to the City of Vancouver’s Non-Market Housing Operations portfolio and over $100,000 worth of supplies, furniture, and renovations to transitional housing shelters in New Orleans within the past year.

We’re grateful to call every city where we operate home, and will continue to find ways to give back as we grow.
