All I Ever Wanted

Melnychuk Nataliya, via Unsplash

All I ever wanted were the simple things,
birds singing, church bells ringing
as I pour my morning coffee,
while pondering the words that crafted me.

I don’t need to think about
what I’d do in another life
if the one in front of me
is the only one I can see.
