Reverberating Premonitions

My ponderous eyes
capture the unseen — never
perceiving the light,
for the weightier grievance
obscures the present moment.
Recognition fails
my mind — a distorted curse
falls upon my muse,
bound by time, the cruel master
who throws glass shards in her path.
Reverberating
premonitions deafen me
and steal the refrain
barely passing through my lips —
the tune and the words are lost.
