Song of the Lark

So I Will

Free Verse

I long to feel the stillness
as it should be felt,
unbothered by the cacophony,
untroubled by the fleeting whims
within me and around me —
so I will.

I long to be free
from an imprisonment
of my own making,
letting go of the desire
to be what I am not
truly compelled to be…
