How a song can ignite the fire you never thought you had before.

I hung my head,
for the last time,
In surrender and despair.

This is how Josh Garrels, singer/songwriter starts this track Rise from his album Love and War & The Sea In Between.

This song speaks volumes about how one is faced with tough situations in life. And also, how one’s mind is in that situation. It’s when you have already fallen down flat on your face & you have no hope. What do you do?

You make a choice.

The time has come, to make a choice
Use my voice for the love of every man
My minds made up, never again
Never again, will I turn round.

You make a choice in your head. You promise yourself that you’ll get yourself out of the ditch. And a promise made with such confidence, that you wouldn’t want to break it yourself.

The song goes into how well the problem will mask itself and present itself to you in multiple forms. But, you’ve got to keep defending yourself and keep fighting all the way.

Not by my might, or my power, or by the strength of swords
Only through, your love, my lord.
All we’ve lost, will be, restored.

Here, one finds out the real solution. Love.
Love, for oneself. And for the Christ-self.

For those, who do not believe, they can choose to believe just in themselves. :)

For me, this song was an awakening into a space, so sacred, that it created kingdoms of happiness for me to bask in all the time.

This song has so much peace, so much power, self-love & moreover, so much of reality. How beautiful it is to see & realise that you, yourself contain the power to re-ignite yourself.

Apart from the amazing lyrics, the musical instruments too are just perfect. An organ, a flute, strong vocals & a melody so smooth, it melts the song perfectly into one single emotion.

Josh believes in making music for the soul. He doesn’t write songs just to fit them to the music. He says that a song should have lyrics, only if they’re serving a meaning. No meaning, no words. No words, just release the song out as an instrumental. Simple.

And now finally, Check out the song below. It’s free to listen. I respect your precious four minutes. Trust me. :)
