Guidelines, not rules.
Our Mission here is to bring out the best in music, to help make the best of it in life.
→ Be creative with the title.
→ Try starting with something other than the actual song. Maybe a back story. Or an entrée.
→ Your post HAS TO BE about a song, for us to be able to publish it here.
→ Info about the song to be included: Title, Album, Artist, etc.
→ Your content. You should be really passionate about this song, or at least the concepts touched upon by this song.
→ The Tags available are:
- Folk
- Instrumental
- Alternative Rock
- Country
- Metal
- Pop
There are a lot of other genres too. If you need to add a new genre, just tag your post with that tag; the new tag will be added accordingly.
Having a tag Music is compulsory to show up in the stream of posts.
→ English is the preferred choice of language of the song. If you’re writing about a song that is in some other language, make sure you’re making that post absolutely fluent in terms of understanding, by explaining it completely.
→ Since we’re publishing only ONE post per WEEK ( YET ), there will be a high chance that your post will be accepted, surely, but might take weeks until it’s published. You will be intimated about the publishing date of your post via Medium Private Notes.
→ Please don’t include non-aesthetic CTA banners at the end. We have a “Song of the ( Previous ) Week” & “Song of the ( Next ) Week” sections at the end of each post to help with discoverability and flow. The CTA banners don’t really fit in that zone.
→ If absolutely needed, a Single Line CTA with a link is appreciated. Be creative ;)
→ We will try and be helpful about correcting the grammar and the flow of the post. For this to work, you will have to keep the Private Notes Setting ON. However, it will be appreciated if you did a proofread before submitting it.
→ We’re keeping this publication as clean as possible. It could go from PG-13 to Rated R. Also, nothing that is unjust or immoral.
→ If you aren’t a writer with us already, shoot us an email at hi@writealetterforme.com with a link to your draft of the post and tell us about the one song that made the most impact in your life.
→ If you want your post to be removed from the publication, please shoot us an email at hi@writealetterforme.com with a reason, and then we can take it from there. Removing posts without informing won’t bring down hell on earth, but will tamper with the flow of the posts, since each one is related to the next and the previous.
→ We can’t afford to pay you yet. Also, no submission of stories that are behind the paywall (Partner Program Submissions).
→ Keep it about the song. And have some fun ;)
