Smoking cigarettes on the roof

You always liked the menthol cigarettes. Why, I didn’t know. But I liked the cool taste of smoke when I brushed my lips across yours for the first time. Just one kiss, and I felt as if I could be moved across galaxies.

It was enough, wasn’t it, to feel this way?

You look so pretty and I love this view

Your white-blonde hair falls to your shoulders in a ragged cut. This rooftop feels as if it exists somewhere removed from time as I wonder what I would be doing without you. As you lean over the rail, it looks as if you could take flight at any moment even though you have no wings.

It’s so strange, isn’t it?

But I love you — I love you, I love you, I love you — and I feel as if that will never ever change.

We fell in love in October
That’s why, I love fall
Looking at the stars
Admiring from afar

The autumn moon rose and fell on our liaisons with each other. September rays gave way to October sighs. I remember tracing constellations with you, our fingertips raised to the sky, as I tried to clutch at some meaning of what it meant to be with you — here, us, infinite.
