2008 was a momentous moment in my life. My family, brothers and I moved to Texas. I was twelve, so I didn’t know what to make of it. All I notice is my parents were ready for change, and since I was young, I had to tag along.

In Texas, I experienced a new way of life during my teenage years. It was a rich suburban town, and being a Latino kid surrounded by white kids felt surreal. It’s the reaction you get when you lived in a dense Hispanic part of Southern California.

I thought this small slice of Texas had nothing to offer, but I was wrong when I met my best friend, Phyo. I can’t explain how many times I have gone to his house and the Asian supermarket with him. Phyo and I had plenty of fun moments I’ll cherish forever. It’s been a while since I called him. Maybe I should see how he’s doing.

Before my revelations can occur, I was still the stranger from southern California. Since I didn’t have a social life, I’ll go straight home, and watch TV.

For the first time, my parents own the latest in television entertainment: TiVo. TiVo allowed you to record programs you can watch later. Yet, that isn’t the best part.
