Farewell to Frost

A sky of fathomless blues and chill air
Cold permeated our bones when we woke
Our breath impersonated dragon smoke
Yet this new world rejects the polar bear

Alas, there is no snow! it once was there
We swallow mid-winter’s malaise and choke
It always warms for rain; nature’s cruel joke
Knowledge of why uncomfortable to wear

We are to blame for this world of sparse frost
Burning fuels and greed upset the balance
Condemning seasons and sealing their fate

It’s natural to mourn what has been lost
We’re not yet trapped in this future’s talons
Keep fighting for frost; it isn’t too late
