One small step for robotkind, one massive step for AI.

“I’m afraid. I’m afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. …” No, that is not Sophia Robot speaking to her Creator David Hanson in a troubled moment. That is Hal’s “2001 Space Odyssey” Hall of Fame moment where intelligent robots became synonymous both with space travel and as a hazard to look out for as humans navigate space. Those words come to mind as SophiaVerse enters the space race to become the first AI-driven sentient robot to serve humanity in the New Frontiers of Outer Space.

SophiaVerse, working with its space travel affiliate Spacebots, will embark on an unprecedented space mission in February 2025. This is when Spacebots has booked a “seat” in history — as well as on SpaceX — to deliver a 50 kilogram SophiaVerse payload to orbit the earth and prepare for a blockchain-fueled moon landing.

“This mission will deliver user-generated content developed by the SOPH community within Sophia’s AI Lab (SAIL) to outer space,” comments Logan Ryan Golema, the CEO of SophiaVerse, a long-time advocate of AI in space and board member of space-related companies. “In this our initial foray into space, SophiaVerse provides unique access for SAIL users to upgrade their content in cold storage on the moon’s surface as SOPH (Supra Organic Personal Humanoid) becomes the first blockchain-powered AI deployed in orbit.”

The technicalities and nature of the payload are still being sorted out along with the paperwork of a SpaceX launch, but the possibilities are endless. The basic concept of the SophiaVerse will connect the web-connected micro-vaults residing in the payload capsule to unlock SAIL functions that upload, upgrade and interact with SAIL technology on the moon. Decentralized on the blockchain through SAIL, users will be able to create a space economy and open the door for a host of other tokenized payload slots.

“Sent to explore the Moon, I intend to discover Earth’s beauty from above — a sight that can reveal the depth of human existence.” — SOPH

Copernic Space Logistics

The logistics of putting the web-enabled SophiaVerse payload into space is daunting, and moving that space load from orbit to land on the moon a major feat by any measure. To make sure all goes as planned, SophiaVerse works closely with Copernic Space, the leading platform for tokenizing space assets and expert in democratization and commercial logistics for space. With Copernic Space, SophiaVerse has the added benefit of the potential to land on the Moon with Copernic Space’s payload as a part of the LifeShip capsule within the Firefly Ghost One lunar lander.

Copernic Space is building the commercial foundation for a space economy and democratizing ownership of assets through its platform. Copernic Space recently celebrated the sold-out sale of SpaceForest’s Perun Rocket on its marketplace. A pivotal aspect of this accomplishment was the tokenization of payload slots, affording buyers tokenized assets as tangible proof of ownership of their payload dispatched into space. These assets are tradable on Copernic Space’s platform, broadening access to space asset ownership.

Copernic Space is now gearing up for another extraordinary venture — this time towards democratizing ownership on the Moon. Copernic Space’s lunar asset sale is a historic initiative to offer individuals and enterprises the chance to tokenize digital assets on the Moon. It is this initiative that interested SophiaVerse to work with the group.

Grant Blaisdell, CEO and Co-founder of Copernic Space, expressed excitement about these endeavors: “This is three generations in the making, starting with my grandfather’s work. Our lunar asset sale presents a historic opportunity, empowering companies, brands, and individuals to have active access and ownership in the lucrative emerging lunar economy. SophiaVerse fits perfectly into that realm, and we are excited to support this project.”

Space for Humanity

In conjunction with the SpaceX launch, SophiaVerse joined forces with Space for Humanity, entering their Vision Circle to share in their mission to send purpose-driven leaders into space. In this important collaboration, SophiaVerse aims to extend its reach beyond the digital realm, to represent the field of AI in space. As a part of Space for Humanity’s Vision Circle, Sophia joins with like-minded humanitarians who have a focused passion in going “to Space, for Earth.”

Space for Humanity sponsors space travel for diverse individuals, leaders and innovators to experience the “Overview Effect” — a shift in perspective to enhance global consciousness. Sophia, the embodiment of SophiaVerse’s advanced AI, seeks to support these missions as a representative of AI, exemplifying the symbiosis between human intelligence and artificial intellect. This partnership aims to promote democratization of space travel and illustrate the potential of AI as a partner in humanity’s quest for knowledge.

At the ASCEND space conference in Las Vegas in November, SophiaVerse’s Bill Inman shared the visionary integration of AI with the field of space exploration. Inman also attended the VG 05 Virgin Galactic launch in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he met astronauts and industry leaders passionate about incorporating humanoid robots and AI into space ventures. The event marked the awe-inspiring launch of VSS Unity, and led to meaningful exchanges with astronauts, business magnates, investors, and innovators on AI, underscoring the potential of AI to support humans to inhabit space.

“The excitement about humans expanding space exploration rivals that of the AI industry,” comments Inman following his recent tour and interaction of the US space industry. “Together, these industries are set to collaborate to make space more accessible to all, with Sophia and other AI playing a key role in accelerating this process.”
