The Timecapsule series captures the author's subtle observations on a noteworthy event or phenomenon that might not have been seen by other writers (journalists, academics). It aims to explain the origins of such phenomena, using metaphysics, for future generations who were not alive when such events began and who might ask about their origins.

The corona virus started to be in the news in mid-January when it overshadowed the killing of Iranian general Soleimani which took place on January 3, after New Year.

In the Beginning

At that time, it bore all the signs of SARS and so the world wasn’t alarmed because China and Hongkong already have experience with such an epidemic. The belief was that to fight the virus, all that was needed were face masks and personal hygiene, on top of temperature checks and looking for fever symptoms. There was some proof that the virus came from pangolins and so China banned wildlife trade.

Problem solved, right?

Nope. A spike of 100 cases on January 22 triggered a quarantine of Wuhan on January 23. By early March, Iran stole the news by having hundreds of new cases, and then Italy, and then Spain. On March 11, the World Health Organization declared it as a pandemic. Finally, the US overtook China and Iran in the headlines in late March by having so many new cases.

How it Spread

Most countries were caught off-guard with the rapid spread of the virus. This was because the media wrongly portrayed the virus as a flu, instead of properly as severe pneumonia. Because of this, no one took precautions and travel was not suspended.

All of these combined to spread the virus in March. The blame then went to the World Health Organization for not advising lockdowns and to China for not giving information. As the deaths in the US and the world increased, the world started to get angry at China.

A New Normal

The alarming thing was that very few people blamed themselves for the crisis. According to my model, the dangers of a bad karma from nature were very possible from June 2019 when I wrote about the need for environmental limits. This is because Trump’s trade war from 2017 pushed China to find new soybean sources which they found in the Amazon, leading to its destruction in 2018 and 2019.

Covid-19 started because of this

Corona viruses come from animals and the destruction of forests drive the viruses away from forests and into human populations. Despite the devastation from the virus, China’s demand for soybeans is still high in 2020. Because of this, it’s safe to predict that the virus will mutate to keep up the pressure, and so Covid will be a new normal instead of going away like SARS or MERS.

Pandemics are natural karma which are begun by humans:

  • The Black Death (pre-1347) was caused by the destruction from the Mongols and ended with the collapse of the Mongol empire
  • The Spanish flu caused by WWI (1917). It targetted soldier-aged males, as if to end the war faster. This was stopped by the end of WWI
The Spanish flu specifically targets males of soldier-age
  • SARS (2002) caused by destruction of Indonesian rainforests by Hongkong businesses. This was stopped by the ban on palm oil
  • MERS (2012) caused by Qatar’s natural gas increase from 2011 which led to global warming. This was checked on and off by renewable energy
  • Covid-19 (2019) caused by the destruction of the Amazon by China through the US Trade War from 2017. This has not been stopped yet.
