“Here We Scout” with Fabrizio Romano: Serie A and LaLiga Santander
The summer transfer market in La Liga was exciting, full of top players but also young talents who are intriguing for those looking to the future for their Sorare squads. In fact, I want to start with a talent for the present and future: Real Sociedad spent €11m on Momo Cho, a striker born in 2004 and already part of Angers’ first team for years. A talent many clubs wanted… but one that can finally explode in Spain.
LaLiga’s two giants operate with more urgency and much more money. Barcelona spent over €55m on Raphinha, a top player, winning the battle against Chelsea and Arsenal for one of the best wingers in Europe. It is impossible not to be tempted by the Brazilian star, as well as by Aurelien Tchouameni in Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti wanted Aurelien and he was very good at convincing the French star, because Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool tried in every way to change his mind, but the choice was made. Tchouameni is the new midfield star of Real, and without Casemiro in the squad, he can be ready to have an impact for an excellent season. Of course, Antonio Rüdiger and Robert Lewandowski were two more fantastic additions for Real Madrid and Barça after a crazy, great summer.
I know Nahuel Molina so well because he was one of the best full-backs in Serie A for two consecutive years: running, quality, excellent crosses and the Argentine soul of Atletico Madrid can be an important mix for Nahuel. Also, Diego Simeone is the perfect manager for his growth — consider him a great choice for your squad. Samuel Lino also started very well in Valencia with a goal at the Mestalla; Ateltico Madrid believe in him, they sent him to Valencia on loan because Gennaro Gattuso can be the right manager to help him until we see Samuel again with the Colchoneros.
Keep an eye also on Tanguy Nianzou at Sevilla; they invested almost €16m to sign the French center-back on permanent deal from Bayern, though the German club insisted on a buyback clause for the future because he is considered a top talent, a very interesting one for your Sorare squad. And let’s finish with a promoted side. Girona not only brought MLS Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos aboard, but also Yangel Herrera as a very interesting option in midfield; arriving on loan from Man City, he has big potential and could be the season he breaks out.
Serie A this year is full of new faces and interesting talents for a league that will be truly competitive. The new star is undoubtedly Khvicha Kvaratskhelia signed by Napoli for only € 10m from Dinamo Batumi: this Georgian winger already has made an incredible impact on Serie A with goals, assists and leadership to replace a club legend like Lorenzo Insigne. Someone already calls him “Kvaradona”; the city of Napoli is going crazy for Khvicha so he is certainly a great call for your Sorare team.
AC Milan instead invested over €30m after a long negotiation with Club Brugge to sign Charles de Ketelaere: a top player with quality, elegance and talent who is already an untouchable starter in Stefano Pioli’s system. His assists will come continuously because Charles’ vision of the game is truly special. Ademola Lookman also had a surprising start with Serie A goals and assists as Gian Piero Gasperini is using him as part of the starting eleven after the deal completed for the former Leicester player. His speed and his dribblings have been huge factors for Atalanta who have started their campaign excellently.
A lot of new, fresh quality also for Torino with their new star Nemanja Radonjic: Ivan Juric is the right manager for Radonjic’s definitive explosion after many years on loan around Europe, Torino have already announced that they will sign him on permanent deal from OM in 2023 as Radonjic seems the perfect player to create chances behind the striker in Juric’s ideas. Newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese will need goals to survive and they will count on them from Cyriel Dessers. The UEFA Europa Conference League’s top goal scorer last season with Feyenoord, he had many proposals from Eredivisie but chose Serie A to try a new chapter. Dessers will be a regular starter and the club is already enthusiastic about the investment they made.
Finally, two very talented players coming from Shakhtar Donetsk to Serie A: Fiorentina fans are literally in love with Dodô’s skills, brazilian right back who attacks for the whole game as Vincenzo Italiano is the perfect manager to make Dodô one of the best fullbacks in Serie A. Marcos Antonio is the new leader of the Lazio midfield to replace Lucas Leiva, quality and intensity to give new energy to Maurizio Sarri’s ideas: an underrated option that can give great satisfaction also for your team.
