Sorare’s first step in Asia: K League is here 🇰🇷

We are on a quest to build the leading global fantasy football game. A key step in this vision is to integrate the top 20 leagues in the world. Today’s announcement is a milestone towards this goal. We’re excited to announce the first Asian Football League to join Sorare: the K League.

South Korea’s professional association football league has partnered with Sorare to bring licensed K League player cards and fantasy football to an exciting new audience of fans.

Introducing the K League

South Korea possesses the perfect mix for a fantasy football game incorporating a new class of digital collectibles such as Sorare. It has:

  • One of the biggest gaming populations in the world. They were the first country to host eSports events almost 20 years ago.
  • A football league that has been increasingly more popular in recent years both in South Korea and around the world. They were the first league to restart matches.
  • Stronger cryptocurrency adoption than other countries: although the country boasts less than 1 percent of the world’s population, it hosts 30 percent of the world’s cryptocurrency trading.

When will you be able to collect K League players?

Players from the twelve K League 1 teams are now exclusively available to buy on Sorare’s transfer market. The pre-sale of K League Superstars will feature 1st Editions of every player.

  • Rare Player Cards: Players can all be bought in the games Rare scarcity (maximum 100 versions per season).
  • Super Rare Player Cards: Fans can also bid on a limited number of 1st Edition Super Rare cards (limited to 10 versions per season)
  • Unique Player Cards: There will finally be 5 very special Unique cards which are limited to 1 version per season!

Utilising K League cards in SO5

With the K League season running from March to November, these cards will give Sorare managers the ability to compete in SO5 Fantasy during weeks of the year where European teams are on their seasonal break.

The pre-sale of K League cards will last for one week so that Sorare managers can start building and managing their K League teams.

We will start covering the games from the K League clubs immediately and there will be 3 main ways for you to put your new K League cards to the test:

  1. All-Star + U23 Leagues: Start selecting your cards in your main All-Star and Under 23 tournament teams to help you compete on the games most prestigious leaderboards and for the games most desired prizes!
  2. K League Weekly Challenges: Weekly Challenges for weeks 75–77 will be exclusively for K League players. They’ll be some incredible prizes up for grabs in these inaugural K League weekly tournaments!
  3. Permanent K League Divisions: After the Weekly Challenges we will create a permanent K League structure for managers to compete every week in SO5 Fantasy with all of their K League collection!
