Sorare Football Product Update: Premier League $500k Competition, Manager Progression, Much More

Welcome to Sorare Football’s latest product roadmap update. We’re excited to share our plans for the upcoming months, which focus on delivering an enhanced and sustainable experience for our community — including one of our biggest competitions yet (with a massive prize pool!).

Fitness & Club Facilities update

First and foremost, we want to address the changes in our Fitness and Club Facilities features. After careful consideration and extensive community feedback, we’re scrapping these plans in favour of more impactful improvements in Manager progression, competition structure, and rewards.

Our product team has been structured to concentrate on key priorities:

• Iterating on Sorare Pro competition and rewards to elevate your experience, across sports
• Removing friction to create a seamless, mobile-first experience to drive growth and conversion

Sorare Pro: Sustainability and rewards

In our journey toward building a thriving and sustainable ecosystem, it’s important to be transparent about our business model. In order to finance our operations — such as game development, rewards, partners, etc — we need to sell digital player cards. Cutting the supply of cards that we sell is not a sufficient or sustainable solution for our platform or for our community.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of Sorare, we need a holistic strategy where the sale of new season cards can healthily sustain a fun and rewarding experience.

Navigating existing regulatory frameworks has been a challenge and, at times, has prevented us from making progress toward delivering the exciting gameplay experience we want for our community. Promising regulatory developments allow us to apply more focus and ambition to our product roadmap and to be more transparent with our progress. Over the next three months, we will run a series of competition iterations that will bring us toward the thriving and sustainable ecosystem that we all want.

To sustain and elevate our rewards experience, we are ambitiously exploring a new chapter for Sorare Pro. Read on below!

Premier League Winter Competition

Hold on to your football scarves and get ready for the most thrilling fantasy football experience of the season! Introducing the Sorare Premier League Winter Competition: Celebrate the festive football period with an all-new tournament featuring $500,000 in total cash rewards!*

Running from Nov. 25, 2023, to Jan. 30, 2024, the competition offers a jaw-dropping half-a-milion dollars in total cash rewards distributed across competitions based on card scarcity — and rewards nearly 1,000 top lineups every week with cash prizing.*

We will monitor your feedback and the results of this competition closely to further ideate on future competition events and structures.

*$500,000 in total cash rewards is the aggregate amount of all cash prizes for the duration of our Premier League Winter Competition, and does not reflect a singular prize amount.

Academy rewards update

The current Academy rules and prize pools were seen as temporary solutions while we were between plans for Club Facilities, training, and XP updates.

As a result, we are removing cash rewards from the Academy Competition and will reallocate these cash rewards to events like the Premier League Winter Competition and future competition iterations.

Starting Game Week 427 (Tuesday, Nov. 21), Academy Competitions will no longer have cash rewards.

Updates to Amateur, Kick-Off & Specialist prize pools

Starting Game Week 427 (opens for submission on Tuesday, Nov. 21, all draft/leagues will offer the following prize pools:

• 150 rewards in Amateur — top prize Tier 2 Cards
• 200 rewards in KickOff — top prize Tier 1 Cards
• 250 rewards in Specialist — top prize Tier 0 Cards

This represents a clearer path for progression across competitions. Premier League Amateur card rewards will now be set to 150 to match prize allocation in other draft/league competitions.

New Cap 220 Long-format competitions: “Super Cap”

Our latest long-format competition will go live across all scarcities starting Game Week 427 (Friday, Nov. 24) until Game Week 434 (ending Friday, Dec. 22.)

Following our recent Global All Star and Cap 270 long-format editions, our newest long-format event will be a Cap 220 competition. Time to crown the world’s best scouts!

Long-format rules:

• The competition will run across eight Game Weeks (GWs 427–434)
• Only your top-four scores will accumulate toward your final leaderboard score
• To compete in the long-format leaderboard, you just need to submit a team to the weekly Cap 220 competitions

For the duration of this long-format event, the Cap 220 competition will reward at the end of the competition (Game Week 434). Cap 220 will not reward on a weekly basis.

Following our latest Cap 270 long-format test, we are happy to develop this iteration while providing rewards to more Managers.

This latest format introduces Star card rewards to the Capped 220 monthly. Full Prize pools for this new long-format edition are in our Private Leagues section here.

Manager progression & ranking

By mid-December, your Manager profile experience will expand with the launch of “Manager Levels.” Through a new and improved Achievements feature, Managers can climb the ranks by completing challenges in Sorare Pro, Collections, Rivals (when the daily game launches), and elsewhere.

The goal of Manager Levels is to reward the long-term success of Managers and allow you to better personalize your profile and celebrate achievements. This is just a teaser of what’s coming.

Rivals: Progress check-in

Rivals, our forthcoming daily game, will introduce sports fans to the world of Sorare through an immediate, seamless, and engaging fantasy experience.

To add onto our previous roadmap sneak peek, here is a new one: In Rivals, every matchup is competitive — but some are more competitive than others.

In the “Arena” of Rivals, we’ll have a skill-based (ELO) rating system that matches you up against other Rivals at a similar level. Did we say reputation is on the line?

Instant Buy

In case you missed it, we announced our Instant Buy feature on Monday. Along with our recent platform redesign, and our ongoing work of a new daily gameplay (Rivals 🤫), the Instant Buy feature is another crucial component of our strategy to streamline the Sorare Manager onboarding experience and greatly improve our mobile experience.

A huge thank you to our community for your continued feedback and support. In recent weeks, we’ve received incredibly valuable and constructive proposals to build a more sustainable and fun experience for Sorare and our community.
