The devastation and war in Ukraine has changed the world as we know it. According to the United Nations, the number of refugees fleeing the country has surpassed 4.5 million.
Our first Ukrainian club partnership was with Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2014, the club fled war to relocate to Lviv and started playing their games in the Arena Lviv.
Lviv is Ukraine’s biggest city near Poland’s border and many Ukrainian refugees pass through Lviv as they flee to Poland and the rest of Europe. Shakhtar has built a refugee camp in the Arena Lviv, providing shelter and security for those most in need.
With Shakhtar, with the global football community, we stand for peace.
We have worked with Shakhtar Donetsk to issue special edition “Stand for Peace” cards. For each Shakhtar Donetsk player, Sorare will issue:
- 50 Limited Cards
- 1 Super-Rare Card
100% of the proceeds from the sale of these cards will be donated to Shakhtar Donetsk to support their humanitarian efforts in the Lviv region. The club will use 100% of these funds to buy emergency aid, including health support, food and clean water, clothes, legal aid and shelter in their refugee center in the Arena Lviv.
To further support this campaign, Sorare will be matching 100% of the donation raised by the Sorare community.
The auctions for the “Stand for Peace” card editions are live starting today, April 12th, and the auctions will start ending between Thursday 14th of April 1PM CET/7AM ET to Friday 15th of April 1PM CET/7AM ET
