One miserable night Joe crawled out of bed frustrated with his unrelenting sinus problems. This night came after months of research, which had followed decades of suffering and an inability to breathe properly because of chronic nasal congestion. Reaching to the fridge he took out the Kimchi he was fermenting and added it to his sinus rinse by the moonlight. He was at the end of his tether with this latest sinus episode, and the sinus issues he had since his childhood had driven him to desperation, forcing him to finally take matters into his own hands — in cultivating his own probiotic.
Joe had made a connection between the common probiotics in kimchi and sinus wellness. With a need for scientific understanding, Joe took his culture and got in contact with one of the top specialists working in the sinus microbiome, Dr. Jayant Pinto. Jayant, a sinus surgeon and researcher in Chicago, had his interest piqued and isolated what was in the culture. What they found was interesting indeed, a result that would head them both firmly on the path to creating their startup business, NewPath Probiotics. Identifying a surprising and novel microbe, seemingly identifying a new route from congestion to sniffle free wellness for sinus sufferers.
This is not Joe’s first foray into the startup world. His need to improve the world around him led him first to his initial startup, a tree planting social enterprise.
