The pandemic images emanating from Italy was first of its kind.
Army trucks carrying qued coffins, Prime Minister breaking down in his media briefing or spontaneous show of gratitude for the frontline warriors, flowing from stringing guitars from the candle-lit piazzas.
The news of Italy re-opening following lockdown and witnessing a slow ‘flattening of curve’ after 2 months came as breath of fresh air.

ইতিহাসে বাঘ তুমি
নক্সায় হরিণি,
‘ফ্যাশনে’ তুমি রাজকন্যে
ভ্রমণে সেরা কাহীনি।
ভ্যাটিকান থেকে ভেনিস তুমি
গন্ডোলা থেকে পোপ,
কেন এ হেন কীটানু আজ
মারল তোমায় তোপ।
মৃতের গুনতি হয়নি তো শেষ
শিখিয়েছ তুমি রোজ,
কেমন ভাবে ‘করোনা’ যুদ্ধ
জিততে হবে জোর।
উদাহরণ নিয়ে বহু দেশ
আজ করছে কিস্তিমাত,
কেন বুঝলেনা একটু আগে
Lockdown is a must.
তবু ও তুমি ইতালী
তাই ইতিহাস তুমি গড়ো
ধ্বংস স্তুপে ফিনিক্স পাখি
উড়িয়ে দিতে জানো।
উড়বে তোমার ধ্বজা আবার
বিশ্বের দরবারে,
দেখা হক তোমায় আমায়
‘অন্য গানের’ ভোরে।
