Discovering Authentic Flavors
My Encounter with a Traditional Tandoor Oven in Johor Bahru
Recently, I was thrilled to discover a clay tandoor oven in Johor Bahru. Traditional cooking methods always fascinate me, and this encounter was no exception. It all began one day when I ordered food through the Grab app. Impressed by the exceptional quality, I looked up the address of the restaurant and decided to visit it in person. The search led me to a food center, about a 20-minute drive from our home. To my surprise, the place was a simple collection of food stalls.
Eager to try the food, I ordered a cheese naan. Ali, the owner, was busy kneading the dough as I watched him with interest. He skillfully placed the naan on a round cushion and expertly slammed it onto the walls of the scorching hot tandoor oven. Just minutes later, he served me the freshly baked naan.
The taste was nothing short of authentic, and the entire experience left me deeply appreciative of the craft and tradition behind this simple yet delicious dish.
