Hi Love,

We expect our children to listen to us, right?

You may have been raised with this standard and heard things like…

“Children should be seen and not heard.”

“Children must respect their elders!”

“Disobedience = Disrespect”

But these are the very axioms that are keeping us from truly connecting with and effectively communicating with our children.

So, let’s flip the script and transform those archaic sayings and create new and more empowering ways of seeing and connecting with our children, shall we?

What if our internal dialogue included…

“Children are worthy beings and deserve to be seen and heard.”

“Children and adults can create a relationship of mutual respect.”

“Disobedience = Disconnection”

Whoa! That’s a whole new vibe, right?!

When we approach our relationships with our children from a place of mutual respect and love, we create a deep connection with them that helps us to earn a right to have an influence in their lives.

Each of us, our children included, are sovereign beings. This means that our children ultimately get to decide how they move through life.

But, it’s our connection with them that helps us guide them.

We have to earn the right to have a voice in their lives.

So how are you showing up in your child’s life?

And what’s one small thing you can do to deepen your connection with your child today?
