What Happens When You Give Up?
Nothing.
There is no opportunity for anything to happen. No chance for things to change.
Often we give up right before our breakthrough comes…right before things are getting ready to change. That point is usually the time of greatest resistance. At that point there is an internal fight to stay where things are safe; an internal fight to maintain the status quo. It’s the time when we are stepping across the line into unchartered territory. It’s equivalent to the moment right before jumping off the plane when skydiving. It’s the point when our fear reaches its peak and things are most uncomfortable.
The irony is right on the other side of the line is an experience unlike anything we’ve ever known. But, that’s also precisely what’s so scary about it; it’s unfamiliar.
Before you resolve to give up ask yourself:
Are you doing it because you’re being pushed outside your comfort zone?
Are you copping out?
Are you afraid to do the work?
Will this decision be something you regret?
Have you truly tried all you can?
If you’ve absolutely done all you can maybe the answer isn’t giving up but instead it’s surrendering.
There’s a difference…
