Your Life Is Defined By What You Value

The only things that have value are the things you give value to. The things you give value to dictate your relationship with life.

As a society there are things we have been taught are valuable (i.e. money, houses, cars, jewelry, etc…). Then there are things we individually decide to give value to. The things we individually give value and the things that have been implanted in us as valuable do not have to be the same thing. In fact, the key to a fulfilled life is to let go of what society deems to be of value and decide for yourself what you value. Another key is to stop placing value on external things.

If all you attach value to are external things, then life fulfillment will always be out of reach and your contentment with life will be fleeting. You’ll have no control over your internal state. External valuables come and go; they are not constant and they have no substance. They’ll leave you incomplete.

The intangibles of life are the truly valuable things. Doing the internal work leads to peace, joy and contentment that is everlasting. It’s the foundation that transcends to what is eternal. When you value the intangibles you put time, energy and effort into them; and when you invest in them your contentment with life grows. They pave the path to life fulfillment. Their value is worth more than money, cars, houses, diamonds or pure gold.

If you put your internal resources towards life’s intangibles the things that used to matter won’t matter as much any more. The crazy thing is, as that happens, abundance in every other area of your life will begin to increase. The increase won’t necessarily be consistent with what society values, but it will be consistent with what you value. It will bring you contentment that is ceaseless. This value is the value that reigns supreme.

When your life feels off kilter and it seems you’ve lost your way; or when your integrity and authenticity have gotten off course, take a step back and evaluate what you’re attaching value to in life. If you do an honest evaluation you’ll certainly find that you’ve attached higher value to external things.

To get back on track shift your value to the internal intangibles of life and they will help you find your way.
