I know what you’re thinking. Animations are typically reserved for children. But a question we should all be asking is: Wasn’t I a child not too long ago?

I mean, we possess a limited lifespan on Earth, so our time being a kid — daring and carefree — was not that long ago. Some of us have fonder memories than others when it comes to our experience as children, but the essence of being curious, innocent and sentimental beings remains, more or less, the same.

When I reminisce my childhood, it is overwhelmingly filled with memories spent watching some of my favorite films and cartoons. Animated characters being born through the screen were considered to be my friends, and the stories they told and went through were events and milestones to be shared between us. Anything they experienced, I experienced.

In watching animated films, we were having some of our first encounters with storytelling, and its main functions — the most important of which is to help us relate to someone and to feel something.
