Since we’ve been growing as a web design and marketing firm, we’re starting to get more inquiries about how we run our business. We love sharing what we’ve learned through both our mistakes and our successes.

As a company, we’re always trying to innovate, which generally, leads to a lot of experimentation. We’ve tried a lot of infrastructure options, both free and paid. After a few years of managing different systems, we are finally settled in one: the Google cloud platform. And we absolutely love it.

If you’re just starting out, or you’re unsatisfied with your current system, consider the Google platform — the hype is real, and it’s a powerful experience.

Cloud Based: Since we run a home office, the ability to move with our business is important. Clients often want to meet at coffee shops, restaurants, their spaces, etc. Being able to easily pull up drafts or graphics is an essential part of our business. Google’s easy interface makes this process seamless.

Affordable: Keeping expenses low is one of our main tenants as a business. We believe it is totally possible to run a successful business without having over-priced infrastructure. You can basically run your business through Google for $10/month/user. This allows us to keep our prices competitive for our clients and make sure our resources are going where it matters. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the ones to commit to (actually, most times!).

Innovative: Before we commit to any partnership, we always evaluate the company itself. We will not do business with any bad actors. While the whole Google-can-take-over-the-world issue is a little creepy, we find their innovation and politics agreeable with our firm. The company is committed to information and breaking new ground; these are shared values that are important to us.

Customer-Centric: When transitioning systems, there are inevitable hiccups. It’s pretty much a pain to do. When we were moving systems, we had a few complicated infrastructure issues. The Google customer service team was helpful and calming while fixing our problems. This was a great first experience and gave us confidence we picked the right provider.

Integration: We are basically obsessed with integration. If we have systems that live in parallel worlds, that is not going to work for our firm. Once you pick Google, everything speaks to each other and your efficiency increases. Now all our internal systems are talking and we love what they’re saying ;)

What systems are you considering? What’s been your Google platform experience?
