Be the Catalyst of Change for a Better World
The change starts with you
They say, change is inevitable. Everything, no matter how gigantic or minuscule, undergoes some alterations. Some of them are rather pointless while others are very crucial. If I were to make a list of all the changes I want to see in my environment it would go on and on.
Not only me, but all of us have a few ideas for society. 20 billion people will hypothetically have 20 billion ideas. That much change is a lot to accommodate. Thankfully, not all of the ideas turn into reality.
But, that is the problem.
We are not living in a utopia even though over the years we have witnessed numerous reforms for the betterment of society, but they were a thing of the past. In this 21st century, our world is not like a perfect storyboard where life is incandescent and gallant. It’s an entirely different world with despondencies and sorrows. Ultimately, only WE can change our lives. But we don’t want to.
We have infinite dreams and aspirations for a piquant and fair world. We detest unjust practices. We loathe racists and rapists. We hate corruption, mob lynching, molestations, assaults, terrorism, and the list goes on. We hate every opportunist who devises discriminatory laws. We loathe noxious taboos. We are infuriated when someone is treated pathetically. We hate how spurious and irascible our society has become.
But do we take a stand against them?
NO
We want the world to change but we don’t want to change ourselves. Have you ever leaped and caught the person by his scruff as he was molesting a woman? Did you realize you were being biased when you ignored someone of a different faith? Did you acknowledge that you were a part of corruption when you bribed a policeman? Did you stop a household from thrashing a 14-year-old maid? Did you decide to stop at the red light? NO, you did not, WE did not.
The world can’t become affable and a haven unless we give our part. We have to be the change. “What can one person do?” should be out of the question rather what we should ask is “What can one person NOT do?” They tell you, that an ocean is constituted of infinite single drops. The day we realize that we are not a single drop in the ocean but the entire ocean in one single drop, our society will change.
It is hard to be intrepid and accept that we aren’t perfect enough but the faster we understand that, the quicker we’ll throw our chrysalis and become the change we desire to see in this labyrinth of life. We will, ultimately, have to change instead of dictating others to do the same. Life was never in uniform motion but when we accelerate we should always try to aid society.
The world consists of us and for the world to change, we MUST start the change.
After all, just like the moon, change occurs in phases, in this case, person to person.
