What’s All the Hype About Finding Our Purpose?
“Hey, are you living in line with your purpose?”
“Ummm…”
“Okay, what’s your calling?”
“My calling?”
“Wait, you mean my interests?”
“Perhaps”
“ I enjoy spending time with my friends.”
“That doesn’t sound like a purpose.”
“No? What is it then?”
There’s been a lot of buzz around “ following our purpose” over the last decade; every other Influencer and life coach out there seems to have it figured out, except us.
Does that mean we’ve failed in life?
Because, let’s be real, some of us are still wondering what our calling might be, while others have already accepted it’s too late to pursue it.
“So, you’re saying you don’t have any purpose then?”
“Must feel like a meaningless life.”
“Is it?”
What is our Purpose? We have always had it.
We explored it in the form of a sport or quirky interests like storytelling as kids.
Our careers became our passion as we transitioned into our adulthood.
Middle age saw us prioritizing our peace and energy.
Growing up, if you had asked me, I’d have said: staying happy.
Our purpose evolves with us, sometimes laying dormant for years, waiting to be reignited, and other times, suddenly emerging to realign our path.
Yet, it’s always there.
Ultimately, our calling is anything that brings joy to our hearts and contentment to our souls — not that complicated, like I said.
Just make time for whatever it is
Don’t leave your job to follow it. Don’t think it’s too late to fulfill it.
Simply, make time for it — start here.
