What Are The Voices In Your Head?

Voices in my head
Hammering insecurity in dead-set
Not smart
Not good looking
Not tall
Not articulate
Not physically fit
The not’s kept pouring

I desired to be a wiz in school
Ace my exams
Maneuver the playgrounds as a football maestro
Debate in-front of large audiences .
Charm the girl with the cutest smile
So many desires …
And how many materialized?

I failed in school
I dribbled like a fool
Large crowds startled me
I was too shy to ask anyone out .

My teenage years seemed like a walking failure
Was there a purpose?
More than anything I wanted to be special
I wanted to be a somebody

My grades finally turned around
I went from a failure to an overnight success in academia
Was this the start of something better?
