An Ashley Petunia Adventure
Background of the Character: Ashley Petunia
In 2017 I was hired to create a character for a series of rhyming children’s books. The primary requirement was that it was to be a young female character, and Pippi Longstocking by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren was offered as an example.
The first story I wrote was published as “Introducing Ashley Petunia: a Poetic Story for Children” in December 2017.
In this Christmas story, I continue the adventures of Ashley Petunia. I am delighted with how the ‘larger than life’ character of Ashley Petunia developed, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did, writing it.
In Search of Santa Claus…
When winter approaches
and snow starts to fall,
boys and girls visit Santa,
in stores and the mall.
But Ashley Petunia
knew those Santas weren’t real,
so, she’d go to the North Pole
to find the real deal.
