What matters most?

It’s difficult for me to decide whether quality works on Medium or quantity.

Some experts and successful writers suggest it’s a quantity that matters most. By quantity, they mean to write articles daily and consistently. This school of thought says consistency is most important for success on Medium.

Some present a 100-day challenge. It means to publish an article daily for consecutive one hundred days.

Some set a target of even more than hundred days. Their focus is on quantity. They seldom talk about quality.

Here the question arises, if someone can not compose an article daily on a consistent basis how can he come up to this challenge?

The people who are writing online with their day job, find it very hard to compose an article daily, because of lack of time, and their busy schedule.

In the beginning, it’s very tough and more time consuming for everyone to write an article. It takes a lot of time to write and edit an article. Thus the challenge of writing daily becomes tough and in some cases unattainable, especially at earlier stages, composing an article daily means to compromise on the quality for the sake of quantity.

The other school of thought suggests never compromising on quality for the sake of quantity.

They say a maximum of three to four articles per week is enough on Medium. There’s no need to publish an article daily.

By consistency they mean to stick to your routine whatever it is. Your readers should know very well how frequently you publish. It’s to save your readers from the inconvenience of waiting for your article.

Three well written, informative, and useful articles per week are enough.

Interaction is most crucial on Medium. The more you are engaged with other writers, the more reward you get in the form of likes, reads, comments and highlights on your stories.

I have tried both methods. For me there was no big difference in results.

When you publish a new story, your previous story becomes less important for the readers. So, instead of publishing a new story, you can give more time and chance to your already published stories.

I tried to explain both strategies of publishing on Medium, one emphasises on quantity the other in quality.

It’s up to you which one you select for yourself.

Experienced and successful writers are requested to share their recommendations and experiences below in comments section.
