Ma Brahamacharini is the second Goddess manifestation of the Navadurga (nine forms of Goddess Durga). Navaratri (the nine nights festival) celebrates the divine feminine. The word brahmacharini in Vedic texts means a female who pursues the sacred knowledge; one who occupies herself with the absolute reality. Jai Ma.

Ma,

barefooted you walk
the forest of ascetic prayers
thousands of years in the
solitude of your Guru’s shelter

you eat and then give up
even leaves and flowers
without food and water
you meditate on your lover

Ma,

your rosary beads, each,
hold the song of devotion
during the hardest nights
i count them with my own

vessel of water in your hand
carries the secrets of
a jasmine you so admire
it is the flower of his third eye
