Ma Mahagauri is the eighth Goddess manifestation of the Navadurga (nine forms of Goddess Durga). Navaratri (the nine nights festival) celebrates the divine feminine.

“Oh Mother, I don’t want name and fame; I don’t want the eight occult powers; Oh Mother, I have no desire for creature comforts; Please, Mother, Grant me the boon that I may have pure love For Thy lotus feet.” — Shri Ramakrishna

O keeper of the sound
that births and comforts
my universes

O river of the moon
soothing my human hands

O divine light

O kindest eyes

O ever forgiving and ever loving Mother

Last night, my weary road
ended with an expanding moon light
in a no moon sky
and a flower of white Bougainvillea
in a desert’s heat

There I knew why Shiva meditates endlessly
On your sacred pearls, Mother

Your magic escapes no one
The most powerful needs your purest light

your love is eternal for us, O Narayani
you are the Mother of all our beauty.
