The Thin Line

A Poem

Shringi Kumari
Soul & Sea

--

Illustration of temple built by Asoka at Bodh-Gaya around the Bodhi tree. Sculpture of the Satavahana period at Sanchi, 1st century CE.

Here it begins
(Ida, Pingala, Sushumna)*

Om

[Muladhara]

Knots open into a lotus
bearing translucent red petals
A lucid dot sits at its center
The journey begins
All particles connect

Om

[Svadhishthana]

A thin vermillion line
awakens in my spine
White flourishes into a river
Desire condenses as silver moon
Life flow continues

Om

[Manipura]

The universe growls
I gather yellow light
My eyes start to see
I am, I am, I am
Nerves catch the beam
The thin line rises
on its own

Om

[Anahata]

The forest gives and gives
plants seeds in stars
Love becomes bodhi* tree
and emerald hearts align
The lotus opens into 12
its stem holding that
thin line, carrying life
