Our lives are vapor.
In between the suits and the screens
It is all vapor.
But you see a word or two, dear reader.
Not the rivers of sentences
And the sparkling sonnets
But may be just a beginning
Or an end
Some fleeting pieces.
And I would say
It is enough.
It is enough that
You dared to enter
You hesitated to leave
That you caressed from distance
A falling queen.
Some poets are still fighting for poetry. Even with the knowledge of the outcome, they continue to raise the pen. And that is an incredible sight.
Readers have more entertaining channels out there; more selling themes, more fast food. But you stopped by on our pages of poetry for a tiny fast second amongst the madness of life. And I say that is enough. That is enough that you stay curious. Perhaps curiosity will save poetry.
Dedicated to all the poets on Medium and otherwise sharing their poetry no matter how dark the times. We have survived attacks on poetry by algorithms, cliches and terrible bestsellers of our times. But we are doing just fine.
We continue to move forward our word. We work on our art. We evolve. In our nights of struggle, we meet, work and negotiate with the evil of the world. We rescue humanity and love on a daily basis.
