Café in the Metro Station
Thoughts over coffee in a travel stories notebook
Many cafes are closed today
but I knew about this one
with its open doorways.
Plenty air circulating
from the two entrances.
It’s quiet here
just what I like.
A few passers-by
coming and going
to the trains and
the announcement
in English..
“Masks must be worn
at all times for the duration
of your journey.”
One woman serving here,
her colleague left earlier
with her coat, scarf, and bag.
It must be a shift change or
break time.
I will go now, but not by metro,
I’ll walk and explore
some other parts of Lisbon.
How I love a slow lazy
morning on Saturdays.
Long may it last!
I am writing this in my
new travel stories notebook
which I found today in one
of those little thrift shops.
It has a short poem
on the cover.
It reads..
My life is rich and colorful
very interesting.
I think that sums up my life perfectly.
I wrote this in January this year. Very few places were open due to the Covid restrictions.
Thank you for reading.
