Change is powerful. It helps you improve, forget and heal. But sometimes it can be difficult to know when you need a change and how you should do it.

Now let’s look at some signs to help you change for the better.

1. Ignoring Core Commitments

— What things do you feel you sabotage? — Do you continually switch jobs? — Go from one diet to another? — Argue with someone for the smallest of things?

Inner conflict happens when you don’t honour your core commitments and needs.

Brianna Wiest, a famous author once said that your core commitments are your primary objectives in life. For example, being in control, being free or being loved.

Your Core Need is the Opposite of Your Core Commitment. The longer you ignore your core needs, the longer your core commitment symptoms are.

For Example;

Let’s say your core commitment is to feel loved and your core need is self-love. If your core need is not honoured, then you will go to extreme lengths to be loved.

— You might start lowering your self-worth, be consumed by superficial standards, or even sabotage yourself from having a healthy relationship with yourself and others.

2. Peter Pan Syndrome

Although the story of Peter Pan may seem magical if you understand the behind-story, it is itself tragic and sad.

It shares a story about a boy who fears growing old. Therefore, he chooses to live in Neverland, a place where he feels free, and comfortable, with never-ending fun and adventures.

While other kids took on bigger responsibilities, Peter Pan remained young and alone. So now what should you take from this story..? Let me explain…

In 1983, Dr. Don Kiley published a book about this syndrome. He stated that it includes characteristics of adults who refuse to grow up, struggle with their commitments, avoid responsibilities and rely on others.

But for all Peter Pans, there are Wendys, those who tolerate the other person’s lack of accountability.

Note: There is nothing wrong with being a child-at-heart, but sometimes don’t let it interfere with your natural development.

Remember: Failure is Normal and Life is Full of Chances

3. Stagnation

You cannot move on to the next chapter of your life if you are not honest with yourself and if you are clinging to your past. You need to put in the interest and commitment to move past.

Stagnation is not bad. But it depends on where you want to be and who you want to be.

For example, think about the last six months. If you don’t have a memory of anything happy, memorable, proud, or motivated, then it’s time you need to make a change.

4. 70% Life

Do you go through life like you aren’t experiencing it fully because you couldn’t achieve a certain goal?

For example, let’s say you have some weight issues, and that might make you think that it makes it difficult for you to get into a relationship or feel happy because you don’t have your dream body.

Because of this, you live only 70%, not 100%. If you are like this, break this mindset immediately.

According to professor and author Nir Eyal, humans are not wired for contentment. The lack of external satisfaction and pleasure is what made our ancestors strive and work harder to survive and evolve.

If you achieve a certain goal, then you’ll just move on to the next. There’s no “If I do this, then I’ll be happy” attitude if you continue to keep this 70% life mindset.

REMEMBER: Happiness Starts With You!!

Don’t be afraid to dream, work harder, play harder, and most importantly live life to the fullest.
