A Sufi saint and disciple of Nizamuddin Auliya, Amir Khusro, invented many forms of music. His devotional and spiritual expression was mainly through poetry. He was a prolific poet who served the royal courts of Delhi Sultans of those times.
He created a Sufi music style known as Qawwalis by fusing the Indian, Persian, Arabic, and Turkish forms of music. Amir Khusro is also regarded as the father of Qawwalis.
