During this era, of radical changes for mankind, we often ask ourselves: What is going to happen tomorrow? How will our children study? What does the near future of work look like?

The world economy, education and work have been disrupted by the new living conditions imposed by the pandemic. Although many sectors have declined sharply, others, such as IT, have enjoyed considerable development. The market continues to change on daily basis, favouring web-based activities over traditional ones, also because they are easily manageable from home.

To be location independent, such from the company office, is one of the aspects that I have always appreciated and defended in my work.

The type of projects managed by my company involves different organisations, professionals and experts, which are located in different places around the world, so it is customary for us to work in different physical locations according to the different projects’ needs.

Before considering projects’ needs, we always give priority to our collaborators’ needs as human beings and we strongly believe that geographical independence encourages individual freedom and facilitates the productivity and the individual creativity.

To complete the overall picture of well-being, we and our collaborators devote a large part of our free time to outdoor activities like walking, swimming, climbing, biking, yoga, etc..

“You can work for hours (considering modern laptop batteries) on a terrace, on the beach or in the middle of a meadow just using a Wi-Fi/Cellular network to connect to.”

It is well known that sedentary and work indoors could lead to more or less serious complications in the long term. But can this be improved? Yes, it can! Especially nowadays it is even more important to make an effort for it since we are forced to spend most of our days indoors.

If you work in the IT sector then a laptop, a good internet connection and a huge dose of passion is all you need to perform your tasks. These elements can easily be taken outdoors. You can work for several hours (considering modern laptop batteries) on a terrace, on a beach or in the middle of a meadow just using a Wi-Fi/Cellular network to connect to.

Some modern co-working spaces, such as that of our friends at TLR Málaga, have equipped their spaces to offer open-air terraces where people can work while breathing clean air.

Spending time outdoors has been shown to bring numerous benefits such as relieving stress, improving the power of your immune system, sharpening your focus, calming your mind, improving your short-term memory and improving your vision. Exposure to natural light is another important benefit as it provides a large amount of D vitamin to the body, reducing the risk of some diseases. Even a short break outdoor can bring great benefits while we are confined within domestic or office walls for long time.

Me planning the week at Monate Lake

One of my company branch is located in a beautiful municipality in northern Italy. This gorgeous place boast of 7 lakes, natural parks and amazing woods. I make sure to spend a part of my daily time outdoors, with considerable benefits. Whether it’s for half an hour or half a day, working outdoors makes me much more productive, helps me concentrate and increases my creativity. We want to spread a new way of working, to give a new perspective to all professionals who are approaching this sector or those who have been in this field for years.

Do work outdoors as much as you can, give importance to physical activity and you will increase the quality of your life as well as the quality of your work considerably.
