Every Friday, Downtown Phoenix students, workers and visitors congregate near Civic Space Park, across from the YMCA, to eat.

Food Truck Friday is a regular favorite. Food trucks include a number of different eats ranging from homemade hot pastrami sandwiches to loaded belgian waffles. All dishes are made fresh and served out to you to enjoy on the go or under the sun, smack dab in front of the trucks.

If there is anything that Food Truck Friday does well with, aside from bringing tasty dishes to Downtown, is providing a space for people to wind down. These individuals range from Arizona State University student, Downtown Phoenix workers or passerbyers.

The collection of people make for a unique space where food is the driving force of mid-day contentment.

I spoke to a first time Food Truck Friday attendee, Lareena Wooee, and two Food Truck owners. Ohlo Trung of “The Lemongrass Shack” and Norman Sandoval of Mod Nostalgic has some interesting antecdotes of why they keep coming back.

The bottomline came down to this: sweet treats, interesting people and livelihood.

Four to six food trucks were present this last Food Truck Friday and it seems the fun will not be stopping anytime soon.

Can I get a Friyay?
