The Perfect Day
Being from Colorado, my perfect day is a snow day. I used to live for the moment when I’d wake up to darkness and instead of feeling gloomy; I’d feel joy and excitement almost instantly knowing what would be waiting outside. I would open the blinds and see a white sky blending in with a white ground. School is cancelled for the kids and work is cancelled for the adults. And on my perfect day, I get out of bed and put the clothes that I’ve laid out back on their hangers in the closet, I’m not changing out of my pajamas today. Instead I light the fireplace in the family room, drag an old blanket out of the hall closet and start thinking about all of the movies I want to watch throughout the day. From there I begin to think about what foods will accompany me on this cold day, a very important element to a successful snow day. For breakfast I’ll splurge on dark chocolate covered biscotti’s that I’ll want to dip in either hot chocolate or coffee, which in my opinion is the breakfast of champions. For lunch I’ll have my favorite soup, Panera’s broccoli cheddar.
Warm and cheesy, I even crave it on the hottest days, but it will compliment my cozy snow day perfectly. Honestly I’ll probably have it for dinner too because after I’ve had it for lunch I find myself wanting to have it again for dinner, I need to end on the perfect note. Unfortunately, I can only dream of this perfect day, a day I used to live out frequently growing up in Colorado. But as much as I yearn for this perfect day, I know that I’ll relive it again.
