Is Modern War Pointless?

Last Thursday morning, I woke up to the news that Russia had invaded Ukraine.

Given the recent talk of such an invasion due to the buildup of Russian military forces along the Ukrainian border, I wasn’t surprised. I was, however, disappointed. I had hoped the two nations could find a diplomatic solution to settle their conflict.
