South Park Studies: Social Infrastructure

The term “social infrastructure” refers to the physical spaces that allow communities to interact and grow. When social infrastructure is robust, neighbors — even across ethnic and political lines — interact and build relationships that positively impact civic participation, health, and crime. 99% Invisible recently had a conversation with sociologist Eric Klinenberg about his book Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequity, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life.
