Now that warmer weather is here, we’re rounding up a few of our favorite summer outdoor events. Mark your calendars, and use the extra daylight to explore some nearby neighborhoods.

Natural History Museum

Summer Nights in the Garden: Get outside this summer and enjoy the evening breeze, late sunset, and starry skies. The Summer Nights in the Gardens series is a celebration of all things summer in the enchanting Nature Gardens at NHMLA.

Spend your Friday night sipping a garden-infused cocktail, checking out various science and nature experiences, and brightening your life with nature-inspired take-home activities. Have a picnic or get a little lost in the gardens — all while the beats from live music performances set the mood. Get your summer on at NHMLA! June 29, July 13 & 27, and August 10, 5 PM

Los Angeles State Historic Park
Metro Rail: 30 minutes from Pico Station
Bicycle: 22 minutes

Early Bird Walks: Take an easy stroll with LASHP’s Promotorx, Xochitl Manzanilla. Meet outside the Welcome Pavilion, and enjoy the company of other LA early birds! Pets are welcomed while on leash, and please bring comfortable shoes, refillable water bottles and sun screen/sun protective clothing. Thursdays until May 31, 8 AM

First Friday Campfires: Every first Friday of the month, we’ll be hosting a campfire underneath the park bridge (roundhouse area). Come along as one of our park rangers introduces a program on urban wildlife, Downtown LA History, and various other topics that tie into the park and the community. May 4, June 1, and July 6, 7:30 PM

Chinatown Central Plaza
Metro Rail: 30 minutes from Pico Station
Bicycle: 22 minutes

Chinatown Summer Nights: Part food event, part summer party, Chinatown Summer Nights presents an exciting hot spot for Angelenos this summer. Taste the many culinary offerings of Chinatown and LA’s gourmet food trucks; sample the neighborhood’s wares; watch Chinese chefs perform cooking demonstrations; experience large-scale, outdoor video projections; take part in hands-on, Chinese cultural activities presented by local organizations and museums; sip on craft brews and dance in Central Plaza with 89.9 KCRW’s DJ’s! June 30, July 28, and August 25, 5 PM
